«The data contained in the new health plan drawn up by the Sicily Region and relating to the reorganization of the hospital network are of grave concern. The data relating to the San Vincenzo hospital in Taormina is particularly alarming, with very high standards” says FI parliamentarian Tommaso Calderone. «Learning now that the very excellences of the hospital are suffering indiscriminate cuts to beds – which are in addition to the numerous cuts that have already affected the hospital in the past – forces local and regional managers to adopt immediate interventions aimed at, at least, maintaining existing places by revising the adopted health plan in this direction».

«At the Cutroni Zodda hospital in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, there is – he adds – the continuation of the failure of the X-ray equipment (X-ray). As indicated in the same councilor’s note of 27 August 2025, the aforementioned critical issues were not communicated with due formality and timeliness, highlighting a significant information misalignment between the general management of the Messina ASP and the regional health department, which also led to the exclusion of magnetic resonance imaging from the plan of modernization interventions financed through the Pnrr”.
