The investigating judge of the Court of Messina, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, validated the SEquestro preventive made by the carabinieri of the Taormina Company, relating to an area of about 9,000 square meters used for the uncontrolled storage of special and non -special wasteidentified in a rural area of Francavilla di Sicilia. The kidnapping includes a shed used as a deposit, other structures scattered in the area and two trucks loaded with waste, attributable to two individuals, one of which already known to the police, administrators of a company in the area, both investigated for activities unauthorized waste management.
The provision of the judicial authority originates from an intervention by the carabinieri of the operational rate of the Compagnia di Taormina and the Francavilla station of Sicily which, with the air support of the 12th carabinieri helicopter core of Catania, in recent days have carried out a Observation service of the territory of competence, in order to prevent and contrast the illegal conduct related to the abandonment and disposal of waste that deface the beauty of the territory, as well as causing serious damage to the natural environment and health.
During the service, LThe helicopter of the weapon, during the reconnaissance of the territory, reported to the patrols on the ground an area with a deposit of open -air waste, identified in an area of the Francavillese agro, hidden among the hilly vegetation. Thanks to the images taken from the helicopter, an inspection of the place was therefore prepared, which allowed the carabinieri to ascertain the presence of special and non -special waste, such as car carcasses, engines and various components of vehicles, refrigerators and other appliances , as well as various ferrous and plastic material. The military of the weapon identified the company resulting from the land, informing the Public Prosecutor of Messina.
