Yesterday afternoon Piazza San Sebastiano was stormed by citizens and associations. It was the day of the Official presentation of Taverna’s candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture 2027. Associations that were all protagonists of the evening with a series of interventions. The bishop of Catanzaro was also present at the event Claudio Maniagowho wanted to remember when one day the mayor Sebastian Tarantino told him of his intentions to nominate Taverna as a city of culture: “I thought to myself that it was a holy ambition; today, looking at this square, I am convinced of the goodness of the idea.” The archbishop then added that Taverna has already won “because today you have shown the desire to be together in a network. Doing this also means giving an input to decide whether to stay in your own land or return.” In addition to institutional authorities, representatives of the world of work were also present at the demonstration. Among others, Gregorio Ferrari spoke, representing the BCC, as the body that supports the project: “A difficult challenge – he admitted – but tonight we are all together to make a dream come true.”
