The next Davis Cup Final 8, which until this year was held in Malaga, will be hosted in Italy. The official announcement arrived together with the pairings for the 2025 playoffs. Multi-year agreement, with Bologna as the first location, followed in subsequent years by a possible rotation with cities such as Milan and Turin.
Bologna, which had hosted the group stage until September, was already designated for another year, but the International Tennis Federation (ITF) decided to change the format of the competition: no more groups, but matches played at home and in away. Thanks to this innovation, the Emilian capital would maintain its central role in Davis for 2025, pending further details that could extend the event’s stay in Italy until 2030, on the model of the ATP Finals.
The choice of Italy as the new home of the Final 8 is not accidental. The efficiency of the Italian organization, the prestigious work of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP), the historic successes of the two “Salad Bowls” won by the Azzurri and the world record of Jannik Sinner certainly facilitated the ITF’s decision. Furthermore, the designation of Italy as host country will guarantee the Azzurri direct access to the final phase, sparing them the previous preliminaries.
With this step, Italy increasingly confirms itself as the capital of international tennis, thanks also to its ability to attract major events such as the ATP Finals and now the Davis Final 8. A choice that further strengthens the country’s role in the global tennis scene.
