The CT Vela Messina equalized in Sassuolo – on the first day of the male tennis team championship of A1 – and returns to Sicily with a very important point. Great proof of pride of the boys of Captain Francesco Caputo who, below 3 to 1 after the singular, managed to win both doubles and close the match, on the Emilian synthetic, on the score of 3 to 3.
Capital performance for Fausto Tabacco who, at the opening, defeated Federico Bondioli, number 389 of the ATP ranking. Lost the first set for 6-3, Tobacco won the second set for 7-5, in the third he took 4 to 1, Bondioli recovered the breakdown break but, on 4 to 3, Fausto managed to snatch the joke from the home player and then closed at the ninth game 6-3.
On the other field Giorgio Tabacco suffered a twofold 6-4 by Enrico Dalla Valle.
In the third singular, Fabio Varsalona gave up Mattia Ricci 6-1, 7-6, but the biggest regret for the Peloritans came from the match between the two numbers 1, Federico Arnaboldi and Jakub Paul. The Swiss of the CT Vela, number 293 in the world, found himself on a set (7-5) and a break (4 to 2) in the second, and then suffered the comeback of an excellent Arnaboldi who, thus, carried on Sassuolo for 3 to 1 at the end of the singular.
In the double the masterpiece of the CT Vela was completed. President Tato Spatari’s team managed to win both games at the Super Tie break. Fabio Varsalona and Jakub Paul had the better of Bondioli and Ricci, while the Tobacco brothers defeated Arnaboldi and Dalla Valle for 15 to 13, also canceling a match point to the opponents on 11 to 10. Fausto and Giorgio closed it to the fourth useful attempt.
Next Sunday, the CT Vela will host the Ligurian Santa Margherita which, in the other meeting of this first day, had the better of Perugia.
