The service of immunohematology and transfusion medicine (SIMT) of the Baron Romeo hospital in Patti marks a new goal in the blood collection. In the first four months of 2025, 3,009 hemacies were produced, recording an increase of 3.6% compared to the same period of 2024. This trend is particularly significant if compared with the regional data that are slightly decreased for the same period
A figure that confirms a constant growth trend, thanks to a solid organization, an effective programming and above all an active collaboration network with the associations of blood donors, which represent a fundamental garrison for collection and awareness, reliable and tireless partners in promoting the culture of the gift. The synergy with these realities has made it possible to keep the collections constant, involving new bands of the population and enhancing the organizational capacity of the service.
The Simt Director of Patti Dr. Gaetano Crisà highlighted: “This milestone is not only ours, but was reached with the support, of the ASP of Messina, who has always given technological and administrative support to the SIMTs, with the donor associations and with the health personnel, doctors, laboratory technicians and nurses”.
The general manager of the ASP of Messina Giuseppe Cucci stressed: “The increase of the units collected is not only a numerical fact, but the concrete demonstration of how much the shared commitment can translate into tangible results for public health. I express my most heartfelt thanks to the health personnel, to the donor associations and to all donors who, with their generous gesture, choose every day to contribute to the life of others”.
The invitation is clear, we continue to donate, we continue to make the difference. Even a single bag of blood can represent hope for those who struggle between life and death. Giving is an act of love, a red thread that unites us all.
