This year we present ourselves with a simple, but powerful slogan: the Calabria that we are. Not the Calabria that we were, nor what we would like to become, but what we are, today, with all its shades: its thousand -year culture, its words, its words injuries, his talents.
With these words the regional councilor for culture and social policiesCaterina Capponiinaugurated the stand of the Calabria Region at the International Book Fair, scheduled in Turin from today to 19 May.
Many texts by Calabrian authors who will be presented in Spezio Calabria, at the Oal Pavilion of the Lingotto in Turin, selected following an expression of interest in which the publishing houses participated.
“This stand – continued the councilor for culture – is not just an exhibition point: it is an open house. It is an invitation to enter, read, to listen. Here, today and for the next five days, they will find literate spaces, intellectuals, publishers, writers, scholars, readers, young promises and big names of every orientation, in which everyone has the right of speech. Here we bring voices and visions. We bring stories born in the alleys of the villages, in the silences of the mountains, on the coasts caressed by the Ionian and the Tyrrhenian Sea. We bring a living language and a thought that resists. We bring our roots, but also our branches ”.
“The book, for us, is a bridge -finally remarked the settlement of Capponi after thanking the regional department and the staff who dealt with the organization -. A bridge between generations, between places, between distant worlds and neighboring worlds. It is the way in which Calabria is told, without stereotypes, without filters, with authenticity”.
