The conditions of Rocco, the eleven-year-old boy originally from Acri who last Tuesday fell from the third floor of a bed and breakfast in the Tiburtina area of Rome, remain stationary, albeit still serious.

The little boy is hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit of the Bambino Gesù Hospital, where he is in a medically induced coma. The coma was induced by doctors to protect neurological functions and facilitate recovery after the severe trauma. Rocco, goalkeeper of the Acri Academy rookie team, was rescued and stabilized at the scene of the accident before being urgently transferred to the Roman hospital.

This morning the child underwent surgery on his left foot to treat the fractures sustained in the fall. The Traumatology team proceeded with the reconstruction of an epiphyseal detachment in the ankle, a fracture of the talus with subtalar dislocation and a multi-fragmentary fracture of the calcaneus. The operation, which lasted just over an hour, ended successfully and without complications.
