“On the hypothesis of transfer and/or functional connection of the pediatric cardiac surgery of Taormina to the Policlinico Rodolico of Catania, proposed in these hours by the Ministry of Health, clarity must be made immediately. Councilor Faraoni should immediately report to the Health commission at the ARS”. This was stated by the group leader of the M5S at ARS Antonio De Luca.
“We learned – says De Luca – that the Ministry would have subordinated the maintenance of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery of Taormina to a functional connection with the Policlinico Rodolico of Catania, as a second level DEA. Why is the councilor silent on the subject? Because the Ministry, which previously also indicated the Papardo of Messina as a possible host company and, after the Region had chosen it, now exclusively indicates the second level DEA of Catania, disavowing whether itself? It is more than evident that behind all this there is the desire to please the Catania political area of reference of the Ministry, passing it off as a technical choice. We are not in favor of this: the health of children cannot be subordinated to a low level of parochial competition between the city and the relevant parties. The cardiac surgery of Taormina must continue to operate in complete autonomy, as it has done so far with excellent results they operate independently without any connection with cardiac surgery for adults. The president of the sixth commission Giuseppe Laccoto should schedule the request for a hearing as soon as possible. On health, especially that of the little ones, it is not tolerable to witness political games.”
