Raising the level of attention through the intensification of surveillance and control services but also through prevention. This is the summary data of the meeting of the Provincial Committee for public order and safety of Catanzaro convened by the prefect Castrese De Rosa to adopt the first measures for the city of Lamezia Terme.

The mayor of Lamezia Terme, Mario Murone, also participated in the Committee meeting. «The attention – explained De Rosa – is maximum on the part of the State departments, which is why we have prepared the further intensification of the surveillance and control services, in addition to the ordinary teams, with the presence of the crime and prevention teams of the State Police, the SIO and SOS of the Carabinieri. What we can say is that in Lamezia, as in Catanzaro, crime is endemic, we don’t discover it now. We have witnessed many incidents of crime in recent times and we have resolved them. As for the last three episodes – underlined the prefect of Catanzaro – we are working, obviously under the coordination of the judicial authority. We hope that, in the time that the investigations require, we can trace those responsible.”

De Rosa then added: «We are also working on the complaints front because – we must say – this is an area where complaints are not made. We are working on a protocol that will be signed on November 28, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Interior Wanda Ferro, and the anti-racket commissioner Maria Grazia Nicolò, by the prosecutor Salvatore Curcio, the Dioceses, the Calabria Region and the president Roberto Occhiuto, all the trade associations, the anti-racket ones and the unions. The protocol – concluded the prefect of Catanzaro – will have a preventive nature because it aims to encourage people and traders to report, making them understand through an operational handbook what measures the State makes available to them”.
