It was the day of the sentence. There were 26 convictions and two acquittals in the trial resulting from the “Zifaf” investigation, conducted by the DDA and the Gico of the Guardia di Finanza. Which in December 2020, after months of investigations, made it possible to shed light on a consolidated illegal system between Morocco and Italy for the organization of false marriages between Italians and foreigners, with Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians. The rites had the aim of obtaining the residence card for family reasons, essential for entry and stay in Italy, or to “remedy” the position of non-EU citizens who had suffered expulsion decrees from Italy. The investigation at the time was managed by the DDA deputies Liliana Todaro and Rosanna Casabona. Yesterday morning another long hearing before the single judge Alessandra Di Fresco, after the cycle of defense arguments had concluded.
