Giacomo Tortu, brother of the Italian sprinter Filippo, was disqualified and banned for 3 years (36 months) by the Fidal Court following the case of illegal espionage against Marcell Jacobs, Italian 100m record holder with 9″80, gold medalist in the 100m and 4x100m (Filippo Tortu was also part of) at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Prosecutor’s Office of Fidal against Giacomo Tortu had asked for the maximum penalty of disbarment. According to what emerges from the dispositive, Giacomo Tortu assumed entire responsibility for the affair also because he was the only defendant. The Raptors Milano company for which Giacomo Tortu is a member was acquitted. Furthermore, it was written in the sentence that the action was carried out in the presumed interest of his brother, Mr. Filippo Tortu, unrelated to the matter and who notoriously was, and is, registered with the Fiamme Gialle and not with the Raptors Milan”. Giacomo Tortu had ended up in a strand of the Milanese investigation into the alleged cyber-spies of ‘Equalizè, an investigation by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office. According to a testimony from the former super policeman Carmine Gallo, Giacomo Tortu would have turned to the security and investigations company ‘Equalizè between 2021 and 2022 to obtain information on suspected doping by Marcell Jacobs, apparently, to receive information on the blood test results and the contents of phone calls and chats between Jacobs and his staff. It should be noted that Jacobs has never violated the World Anti-Doping Code in his career.
