The fleet of remotely piloted aircraft of the local police of Reggio Calabria is expanding with the arrival of a new latest generation drone. The Command has in fact acquired a further APR aircraft, fully compliant with the safety standards established by ENAC, with the aim of strengthening operational activities in the territory.

The new device will make it possible to improve the effectiveness of controls and support various areas of intervention: from building police to judicial police, from environmental monitoring to the management and control of vehicular traffic.

At the same time as the expansion of the fleet, the strengthening of the pilot team is also planned. In fact, two new agents will soon start the qualification course, while the operators already in possession of the license will follow a specific update for flying in critical scenarios.

The drone is equipped with technologically advanced equipment, including a powerful thermal imager that can be used in search operations for missing persons. For this reason the aircraft will also be made available to the provincial service for the search for missing persons established at the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria.

The drone already supplied to the Command from 2020 will remain operational within the fleet, but will be mainly used for training activities and missions in non-urban areas.
