The new film by Rocco Papaleo entitled “The Common Good”, shot between Basilicata and Calabria with some of the most evocative locations in the Calabrian area as the backdrop to the story, will be released in theaters on March 12th, distributed by PiperFilm.
Filming took place for six weeks among mountain and coastal landscapes, with the Pollino National Park protagonist of numerous sequences. The settings chosen include the majestic Loricato pine, a centuries-old tree symbol of the protected area, and various local centers such as Civita, Saracena and Campotenese, characterized by uncontaminated natural scenery and wild panoramas.
The film also includes some scenes shot on the sea, with shots taken in Diamante, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, where the colors and light of the coast frame some sequences of the film.
The cast and the production
This is the fifth film direction for Rocco Papaleo. The cast is made up of Claudia Pandolfi, Teresa Saponangelo, Vanessa Scalera, Andrea Fuorto, Livia Ferri and Rosanna Sparapano.

The plot of the film
The story follows a tourist guide and an unsuccessful actress who accompany four inmates on a trip to the Pollino massif, in search of the centuries-old Loricato pine, a symbol of resilience. What began as a simple excursion soon turns into a journey of personal change.
Along the way, fragments of difficult lives and still open wounds emerge, while music becomes a collective voice capable of uniting different stories and sensitivities. In a harsh and fascinating nature, between unexpected encounters and moments of solidarity, the protagonists try to tell their story and give a name to their experiences.
A path that becomes an opportunity for discussion and transformation, at least until a sudden event calls everything into question.
