A region in “a structural polycrisis and also in future trends” in the face of which the programmatic lines illustrated by the President of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto are a “book of dreams”. The center-left minority in the Calabria Region, in the debate in the Regional Council that followed Occhiuto’s speech, attacked the governor. Pasquale Tridico, who challenged Occhiuto for the presidency of the Region and who sits – momentarily – on the benches of Palazzo Campanella as coordinator of the opposition, cited a series of negative data, “numbers – he said – that nail us”. An intervention, his, which aroused the reaction of some majority councilors, one of whom, Giacomo Pietro Crinò (Occhiuto President) accused him of having directed “a clear offense towards all the Calabrians” while Marco Polimeni (FI), defined the Council’s programme, “a list of concrete results already achieved” adding that if this were not the case “it means that you are calling the Calabrians idiots who, with respect to that work, have chosen to vote for President Occhiuto” for the second time. Interventions in turn branded as a “discordant note” by members of the minority. From the minority benches, Occhiuto’s speech was defined as «a solid and concrete government vision, which confirms that Calabria has taken the right path of growth and modernization».
The opposition, however, accused Occhiuto of self-celebrating what he has done in recent years «but which we have not yet seen in the territories», of a book of dreams». “Now – said Ernesto Alecci (Pd) – Occhiuto will no longer be able to use the usual refrain, ‘first there were you'”.
