On the sidelines of its hearing in the third board commission, chaired by the councilor Giuseppe eveningduring which the EQ was also audited Peter Battagliathe Councilor for Programming of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria Carmelo Romeo He traced a detailed and positive balance on the state of implementation of the PNRR projects of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria.
“On the PNRR front, our body proved particularly virtuous, with 58 projects financed for a total value of 236 million euros – said Romeo – an important result if we consider that the PNRR funds are not automatically distributed but assigned only to the projects deemed best in the context of competitive procedures”.
Romeo underlined how Reggio Calabria respected all the targets and milestons provided for by national and European legislation, thus avoiding any risk of definition. “Each intervention has been the subject of checks by the Ministry, of the Prefecture – which presides over the control room PNRR – and the various control bodies. And in all cases the Municipality has obtained the green disc”. A particular applause was addressed toformer councilor Franco Costantinowho followed with commitment every phase of the projects: “He faced complex critical issues with great determination, working side by side with technicians, managers, works of the works”.
Among the most significant interventions expected on our territory Romeo also mentioned the Museum of the sea, with a total investment of 61 million euros, already in advanced phase between reclamation and demolitions in the former Camastra area; The urban transport revolution, with the purchase of electric buses and the creation of a dedicated station, unique in its kind from Naples down, for about 50 million euros, a sustainable urban mobility project of absolute value. And again the former orchid cinema, renamed Mediterranean Cultural Gate, who will become a contemporary art pole.
Numerous interventions on nursery schools and kindergartens, including those of Parco Caserta, Catona, San Brunello and Pellaro; The redevelopment of public spaces and squares, with projects that aim to enhance the territory and improve urban livability. The PenTimele Urban Park, with an investment of 4.5 million for sports facilities, a multifunctional arena and an equipped park, part of a wider strategy of enhancement of the city waterfront from Catona to Pellaro.
“These results – concluded Romeo – are the result of teamwork that has been able to face and overcome bureaucratic, technical and logistical obstacles, putting Reggio Calabria in the front row among the cities that are making the most of the opportunities offered by the PNRR”.
