«An absurd and ruthless crime. Giuseppe, 16, killed by mistake in front of a bar in the Messina area. Pain and anger for an innocent life taken from his family. I hope that justice will be swift and severe towards those responsible for this horror. My heartfelt condolences to the family and the community shocked by this tragedy.” Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote it on social media.

«I am shocked and very saddened by the episodes of these hours, which require us to act beyond political colours. We lost very young people, with shots fired among the people in Boscoreale – where an 18-year-old, Pasquale Nappo, was killed – and in the Messina area, where a 16-year-old, Giuseppe Di Dio, was killed in front of the bar. Yesterday in Torre del Greco Aniello Scarpati, a 47-year-old policeman, a state servant, was killed, run over by a car driven by a 28-year-old who, according to initial reports, was under the influence of drugs and had minors on board. My condolences go out to all those who are experiencing deep pain from these tragedies. But as political forces we have a duty to address the issue and find a way to react.” The leader of the M5s Giuseppe Conte stated this on social media. «No one has a magic wand, but let’s start by strengthening security in the cities, where we can no longer afford the shortage of 11 thousand police officers – adds the former prime minister -. We intervene to stem such easy access to the use of weapons, even among the very young, through dynamics that must be addressed with determination. We must work comprehensively on prevention, at a social level, leaving no one behind. We must do all this with targeted, widespread and decisive interventions. It is our duty now.”
