Black crisis for Fiorentina. Lecce also conquers Franchi with a goal from Berisha and condemns Viola to the fourth defeat at home out of five championship matches played so far: the standings are scary, and Stefano Pioli’s fate appears sealed. In a challenge that the now former sporting director Daniele Pradè had defined as life or death, Luca Ranieri and his teammates are giving themselves up to the second option and to a ranking that pushes them further and further into the bottom. On the other hand, the Apulians showed a great performance, winning three fundamental points with a view to salvation. We expect a start with their foot pressed on the accelerator but apart from a sterile possession of the ball the Gigliati are not notable for being dangerous in Falcone’s area. At half-time Pioli turns Fiorentina upside down, simultaneously replacing all 3 midfielders, namely Ndour, Nicolussi Caviglia and Fagioli and inserting Sohm, Mandragora and Gudmundsson, switching to 3-4-1-2. Just before game time, an evanescent Dzeko was also out and Piccoli was in. However, the moves did not bear fruit and Tete Morente even came close to doubling the lead in the heart of the second half with a right-footed shot that went wide. Pioli’s last desperate move is the introduction of Fazzini and the switch to a 4-man defence. Shortly afterwards Kean hits a corner from Mandragora’s corner but Falcone saves just before the ball crosses the line. 7′ from the end, referee Rapuano whistles a penalty for an alleged foul by Pierotti on Ranieri but VAR Massa helps him and the referee changes his mind. The ending is nervous, confused: while the home fans’ protests mount, only a chance from the spot by Sohm is sent out. Lecce celebrates, Fiorentina is in the abyss.
