The official dedication ceremony of the school complex of the “Corrado Alvaro” Comprehensive Institute took place this morning in the Municipality of Olivadi, in memory of the Paratrooper Adjutant Sergeant Major Vincenzo Aiello, Non-Commissioned Officer of the Italian Army, already active in the 185th Reconnaissance and Objective Acquisition Regiment “Folgore”, who tragically died in service on 23 October 2024.
Authorities and participants in the ceremony
The family members of the Adjutant Sergeant Major Vincenzo Aiello, the Commander of the Southern Territorial Command, Division General Andrea Di Stasio, numerous civil, military and religious authorities, representatives of the scholastic world and a representation of the personnel of the 185th “Folgore” Regiment took part in the ceremony, in an atmosphere of intense participation and emotion.
The educational significance of the dedication
The motivation chosen by the school contains the deepest meaning of the initiative: “Example of dedication and courage. His memory lives on here, where we learn that knowledge is the parachute of the spirit: the sure guide that directs the flight of youth towards the full freedom of being.” A message that fully expresses the purpose: to transform memory into an educational tool, capable of accompanying young people on a growth path based on responsibility, awareness and civic sense.
Conduct of the event and institutional interventions
The day opened with the performance of the Mameli anthem and the delivery of the Flag, followed by the institutional interventions of the School Director of the “Corrado Alvaro” Comprehensive Institute, Dr. Maria Carmen Aloi, of the Director of the Provincial School Office of Catanzaro, Dr. Concetta Gullì, of the General Director of the Regional School Office for Calabria, Dr. Loredana Giannicola, of the Commander of the “Calabria” Army Military Command, Colonel Ugo Gaeta and the Mayor of Olivadi, Nicola Malta. Particularly significant was the moment of unveiling of the commemorative plaque, accompanied by the blessing, which officially sanctioned the naming of the institute.
The students’ tribute and territorial collaboration
Afterwards, the students of the school paid homage to the memory of the soldier with speeches and reflections, highlighting how the dedication represents a concrete and daily commitment to living the values of legality, respect and service. The initiative, coordinated by the “Calabria” Army Military Command, was carried out in collaboration with the municipal administration of Olivadi and the school authorities.
