An important day for the city of Soverato which from today has an operational headquarters in the Baia di Soverato Marine Park, in Piazza Nettuno. With the well-attended ribbon cutting ceremony, a new phase officially begins for the instrumental body of the Calabria Region, born from the merger of the six regional marine parks: “Riviera dei Cedri”, “Baia di Soverato”, “Costa dei Gelsomini”, “Isca rocks”, “Capocozzo seabed – S. Irene Vibo Marina – Pizzo – Capo Vaticano – Tropea”, “Amendolara shoal”.
At the inaugural event, moderated by the journalist Pietro Melia, as well as the mayor of the city Daniele Vacca and to the commissioner of the institution, Raffaele Grecothe general director of the Land and Environmental Protection Department spoke, Salvatore Siviglia, the president of the Cesram association, Maria Assunta Menniti, the regional delegate of the Italian Naval League, Giacinto Bagettathe president of the Kalabria Coast to Coast association, Lorenzo Boseggia, the president of Sosec, operational structure for trails and cartography, Marco Garceathe contact person for the Soverato on the way association, Domenico Rotella.
«It is an important moment in which the synergy between different realities is strengthened – commented Mayor Vacca -. In the historic headquarters of the Naval League there is therefore space not only for the Marine Park but also for the Sea Museum. Different realities united to promote tourism and raise awareness of respect for natural resources and the seabed. It can only be a moment of joy for the city also because here we will organize cultural events and let tourists who choose our city know about our rich natural heritage. A perfect location, behind the seafront, redeveloped by the Municipal Administration.”
So after the ribbon cutting of the new premises of the Institution and the inauguration of the Museum of the Sea, with the blessing of the parish priest Don Alfonso Napolitano, space for the presentation of the project for the implementation of the regional trail network through the structuring of routes in the protected coastal areas of the regional marine parks. A project strongly desired by the Commissioner of the Authority, increasingly present in the territory, thanks to the opening of the territorial offices which represent a strategic garrison, aimed at the implementation of actions aimed at the protection and promotion of the environmental and cultural resources not only of the Park but of the entire area surrounding it. Among the objectives there is in fact the desire to make the Parks the gateway from the sea to the hinterland, trying to spread the tourist flows throughout all the months of the year and strengthening the competitiveness of the Marine Parks territory as a destination tourist.
