A journey about 900 kilometers long, made in recent months along all the provincial roads of the territory and in the 50 municipalities of the province of Vibo Valentia, has marked the experience of President Corrado Antonio L’Edolina, who with a public letter wanted to share the profound meaning of an administrative journey made of listening, comparison, commitment and relationships.
A path that, as the Andolina itself points out, has made it possible to know “structures, critical issues and potential” of the territory, with the aim of transforming each stage into a concrete occasion of dialogue between institutions and citizens.
Infrastructure, dignity and spirit of service
During the visits, the president was able to directly see, even serious infrastructure critical issues, to which the “dignity of the commitment of the mayors” and of the technicians of the viability office of the province, which every day, with limited resources, guarantee essential connections and the practicability of the road arteries, is opposed.
“I dialogue with the technicians, municipality by municipality – writes Andolina – reporting the critical issues that emerged and translating the observations of the mayors into operational requests, identifying priority of intervention in a shared way”.
Transparency and programming
The central element of the work was the presentation, in each municipality, of detailed cards on investments – past, in progress and future – drawn up by the engineer Maria Conocchiella with the collaboration of the whole road office. An unpublished transparency operation, in which each intervention has been associated with the law and the source of funding that supports it.
“No municipality has been excluded, at least by a financing on the roads that cross it”, underlines the president, claiming a spirit of equity and inclusion that guided every choice.
In the center, the people
But the journey was not only technical. Next to the institutional aspect, the human and relational dimension emerges strongly: “In every municipality I was welcomed with warmth, courtesy and generosity – he says – I intertwined sincere relationships, beyond any political deployment. I have tightened new friends, having lived the humanity of the territories, strengthened the sense of cohesion”.
An experience that, as the president himself writes, “I will keep in the heart, beyond the assignment. Even if he ceased today, it would be forever part of my story”.
“I don’t speak today about the limits, but about hope”
Although aware of the structural difficulties – such as the deficit budget and the insufficiency of funds for structural interventions – Andolina has chosen not to concentrate, on this occasion, on the list of results or problems, which will be addressed with a detailed technical relationship in the next few days.
Today, however, he wanted to transmit “the joy of direct knowledge, the weight of the critical issues that still require interventions and the certainty that the institutional dignity of the Province can produce hope and concrete results throughout the territory”.
The final message
“Beyond the kilometers traveled – he concludes – the people meet remain. It is there that the profound meaning of every administration lives”.
A message of gratitude, responsibility and closeness that returns the human and institutional value of a journey that is much more than an inspection: it is an act of presence, listening and service.
