The institutional visit has begun Roberta Metsolapresident of the European Parliament, in the Calabria Region on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th December. The Metsola arrived at 6.30pm at the Citadel of Catanzaro, and was welcomed by the President of the Region, Roberto Occhiuto, in his office on the tenth floor. At 6.45 pm, again on the tenth floor, President Metsola will visit the Control Room of Operation “Zero Tolerance”, the program through which the Calabria Region controls the territory with drones to combat fires and monitor the sea (this moment will be open to the press and at the end of the visit President Metsola and President Occhiuto will release short statements).
At the end of the evening, President Metsola will meet the members of the European Parliament elected in the southern Italian constituency for a greeting.
Tuesday 5, at 9 am, President Metsola, with the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, with the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, and with President Occhiuto, will inaugurate – on the ground floor of the Citadel – the new Central regional operational number of 112, the Single European Emergency Number (NUE) that citizens can also use in Calabria to call for example an ambulance, the fire brigade or the police. During the event, a call to 112 will be simulated, with the activation of the relevant and immediate protocols for the emergency intervention of the required rescue or public safety operators. At the end of the demonstration, President Metsola, Vice Prime Minister Tajani, Minister Piantedosi, and President Occhiuto will make a short speech and make statements to the press.
