On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the Proxy Center will be inaugurated, a new space dedicated to the inclusion and active participation of all women, promoted by CIDIS Impresa Sociale ETS as part of the SU.PR.EME programme. 2.
The SU.PR.EME. program 2 – South Protagonist in overcoming emergencies – is supported by the Calabria Region and financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (FAMI) 2021-2027, with the aim of combating and overcoming forms of serious exploitation and strengthening social inclusion paths in the territories of Southern Italy.
Event details and institutional greetings
The event will be held on Sunday 8 March at 5pm in Via Alcide De Gasperi (Piazza Capolanza) – Lauropoli, and will see institutional greetings from the Municipal Administration, the presentation of the programming and a visit to the spaces of the Centre.
The theme of the gift and the community dimension
The inauguration will be structured around the theme of the gift, understood as a gesture of care, exchange and valorisation of one’s power. Donating does not just mean offering something material, but sharing time, skills, listening and presence.
For this reason, the opening will be a moment of community and solidarity: a Swap Party is planned, a solidarity exchange initiative that promotes sustainability and mutual help, and a shared buffet to which everyone can contribute by bringing something to eat, transforming the simple gesture of sharing into an experience of relationship and belonging.
Children’s space: Creativity and personal value
A special space will be dedicated to children, because giving and building one’s own value begins from childhood. The little ones will participate in a creative bracelet-making workshop: each child will create their own bracelet as a symbol of their personal power, their uniqueness and the ability to give to others. The bracelet will be delivered as a souvenir of the event, but above all as a tangible sign of a message: everyone has a value to recognize and share.
Services and activities of the Proxy Center
The Proxy Center was in fact born as a place in which to build and strengthen one’s value and personal power, from an inclusive perspective that concerns women, families and children. It will be open daily and will offer:
* Italian language courses
* Social secretariat desk
* Self-care and female empowerment paths
* Parenting support activities
* Parent-child workshops
* Reading groups and creative workshops
* Solidarity exchange initiatives such as the Suspended Wardrobe
* Introduction courses to the Arabic and Chinese language for adults and children.
A point of reference for the area
The Center presents itself as a point of reference for the area, an open and welcoming space in which to build relationships, strengthen skills and generate new opportunities for active participation.
The opening represents a significant step in strengthening inclusion policies and enhancing the female energies present in the community, in collaboration with local institutions and associations.
