In a few hours, the Carabinieri soldiers carried out a series of precautionary measures to protect the victims included in the so-called “Red Code” system, intervening in several centers in the Gioia Tauro plain.

Among the most significant episodes, the arrest of the Carabinieri of San Ferdinando against a man already subjected to an approach ban for persecutory acts, who had repeatedly violated the provisions imposed on him, presenting himself near the local market and the victim’s workplace. Crucial, in this case, was the activation of the anti-stalking device supplied to the woman, constantly monitored by the Force’s Operations Centres. Despite the suspect’s attempt to evade controls by avoiding recharging the geolocation device to evade monitoring, the efficiency of the system made it possible to document the violations and obtain, very quickly, the aggravation of the measure with the subjection to house arrest.

Similar timing for the intervention of the Carabinieri of Gioia Tauro, who arrested a person responsible for repeated violations of the minimum distances imposed on the victims, with consequent application of house arrest and the electronic bracelet.

Further measures were carried out in the area: in Rosarno, the Tenenza soldiers implemented a ban on approaching a man seriously suspected of continuous persecutory activity against his ex-wife, consisting of stalking, threats through social networks and obsessive messages; in Melicucco, however, a security measure was carried out with placement in a therapeutic community against a man held responsible for serious oppressive conduct towards his wife and children, including beatings, death threats and aggressive behaviour, often aggravated by the abuse of alcohol and the use of bladed weapons.

The activities were conducted under the coordination of the Palmi Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Emanuele Crescenti.
