The Calabria Region takes a new step in the strategy of strengthening the regional tourist offer with the publication of the pre-information notice “Agorà Calabria”, aimed at Municipalities, public bodies, associations and private entities interested in carrying out tourism enhancement projects.

Against a total budget of 4 million euros, the regional contribution will be granted on expense account, with an intensity of up to 60% for paid events and up to 80% for free events. The funding for each admitted project will vary from a minimum of 10 thousand euros to a maximum of 50 thousand euros.

“With Agorà Calabria – declares the Councilor for Labor of the Calabria Region, Giovanni Calabrese – we intend to concretely support the territories in the construction of a modern, integrated and competitive tourist offer. Events represent a fundamental driving force not only for cultural promotion, but also for employment and local economic development. We want to encourage projects capable of networking, enhancing local identities and offering visitors authentic, quality experiences. This measure is part of a broader vision that aims to make Calabria increasingly attractive throughout the year. The initiative is part of the regional policies aimed at promoting the image of Calabria through structured and planned events, capable of networking natural and cultural attractions and offering visitors an integrated and quality experience. The financeable interventions must combine events and tourist services – hospitality, transport, catering, guided tours – with the aim of encouraging the stay of tourists and attracting new flows, including non-residents”.

Municipalities and other territorial public bodies will be able to participate, even in associated form, as well as foundations, associations, Pro Loco, companies and consortia. The projects must concern events lasting between 1 and 3 consecutive days, to be carried out during 2026, and fall within areas such as local tradition and history, live entertainment, food and wine, craftsmanship and design, nature and outdoors.

According to the general manager of the Tourism department, Roberto Cosentino “The initiative falls within the framework and perspective of “Extraordinary Calabria”, we think it is important to continue to focus on people and their narratives. With this notice ‘Let’s give a voice to Calabria’ which means involving communities, businesses and institutions, called to share plural and authentic points of view, deeply rooted in lived experiences and in the ability to tell the value of the territory and with Agorà the Municipalities and associations will be given the opportunity to convey all this, promoting the peculiarities of each place”.
