The first edition of the “Reggio Calabria Street Food Fest” starts today, Thursday 24 April, the event that transforms the Monumental Lungomare Italo Falcomatà into an open -air taste village. The event, organized by Eventively with the support of the Metropolitan City and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the season.
The Festival, born from a private initiative, will keep its Salvo program for Saturday 26 Aprilwhen, as a sign of mourning for the disappearance of Pope Francis, The food village will remain closed during the funeral. Will reopen at 13.30then continuing until 1 at night. The local institutional authorities will not take part in the events until Sunday 27, when a final ceremony of the initiative is scheduled.
The program
Already on the first day, the appointment promises to delight visitors. At 6pm The Food Village is inaugurated with 37 houses of taste, of which 35 dedicated to typical and 2 dishes reserved for the Rusto craft beers. Following, space for show cooking: at 7pm Fortunato Aricò, chef of the Officina del Gusto, and Giuseppe Arena, master of the Messina ice cream maker will be protagonists. At 8pm It will then be up to the ambassadors of the taste Francesco Arena, Pasquale Caliri and Lillo Brakes, ready to surprise the public with a menu designed ad hoc for the occasion.
Next to the food, the fun will not be missing. From 18.30the promenade will come alive with waders and street artists of the Joculares Company, who will propose two replicas of the show “Balanced Circus”. Starting from 8pmAntonio Venanzi’s DJ set will make the public dance, while at 9.30 pm Live music will start with Katia Crocè Kc Project and Axioma Band. The grand finale will still be with the musical selections of Venanzi, until the closing at 1st at night.
The Festival will continue with the following times: Friday 25 from 11 to 1, Saturday 26 from 13.30 to 1 and Sunday 27 from 11 to 24. A unique opportunity to celebrate street cuisine in one of the most suggestive places in Southern Italy.
