A 49-year-old man from Catania is in prison for the crime of robbery. The precautionary custody order – issued by the investigating judge of Reggio Calabria – was carried out by the local Flying Squad, with the collaboration of their Sicilian colleagues.
The arrested man is accused of the aggravated robbery committed last May 3 inside a well-known jewelery shop located in the center of Reggio Calabria where he entered with an accomplice shortly after 4pm, attacking the owner of the business who at that moment was in the company of his brother and collaborator and taking possession of a bag containing several recently repaired watches and jewelery with a total value of 7,000 euros. At that moment the officers arrived and, also thanks to the help of some passers-by, stopped one suspect, while the other robber managed to cover his tracks with the loot.
The identification of the arrested person was achieved following investigative activity which made it possible to retrace the movements carried out by the suspect, both before and after the robbery. Thanks to the analysis of the images acquired by the video surveillance systems both inside and outside the jewelery store, the investigators of the Reggio Calabria Flying Squad managed to reconstruct the entire criminal conduct, which had been planned and organized for some time.
