With the classic ribbon ruling ritual, the 2025 edition of the San Giuseppe Fairan event that has its roots in the thirteenth century. The opening was made even more suggestive by the re -enactment of the arrival in the city of Frederick II of Swabia, enlightened sovereign who, in 1234, gave rise to the event under the name of Fiera della Maddalena. From the origins, this event had the aim of promoting commercial and cultural exchanges between East and West, promoting a climate of peace and prosperity for peoples.
History, entertainment and tradition
To give solemnity to the event, the storyteller William Gatto thought about it, who declaimed the historic imperial bubble in front of a careful audience. The narrative was accompanied by a lively theatrical representation with figures in vintage clothes, while the performances of musicians, dancers and falconers – organized by the Città del Sole Association – made the atmosphere even more engaging. The show took place at the south entrance of the fair, already crowded with visitors from the early hours of the day, thanks to a typically spring atmosphere.
The inaugural ceremony took part in the mayor Franz Caruso, flanked by the deputy mayor Maria Locanto, by the councilor for economic and productive activities Massimiliano Battaglia, as well as by other representatives of the municipal administration, including Unknown, Covelli and De Marco.
The statements of the first citizen
Mayor Franz Caruso underlined the importance of the fair as an appointment that combines tradition and economic development: “The San Giuseppe fair is a piece of our history, but also an opportunity for trade and for the city. Every year we try to make it more and more attractive, keeping its identity intact.”
The deputy mayor Maria Locanto highlighted the social value of the event: “This event is not only a commercial moment, but also an opportunity for aggregation for the community, which finds itself living the city center with enthusiasm.”
Finally, the commissioner Massimiliano Battaglia, with delegation to economic and productive activities, spoke of the impact of the fair on the local economic fabric: “The fair represents a fundamental showcase for operators in the sector, enhancing local trade and recalling visitors from all over the region.”
