There is still no end for this story, exhausted and packaged in the cards of an investigation into a presumed crash of a private entrepreneurial activity, the ofin srlreal estate design company, which failed in 2014 and of which Mario Occhiuto He had been administrator until three years earlier.
The Court of Appeal of Catanzaro confirmed the sentence at first instance (pronounced by the Court of Cosenza), three and a half years of imprisonment, imposed on the Senator of Forza Italia. Being crimes that do not concern the political mandate and does not fall among those for which suspension from the institutional assignment is provided. Therefore, the decision of the second instance judges will not question his bench in Palazzo Madama in any way.
The story of this hypothetical bankruptcy for just over millions of euros is all in the cards of the investigation signed by the Prosecutor of Cosenza. Cards that would tell the life and death of the company for which Mario Occhiuto had held the positions of administrator and legal representative from 15 October 1996 to 16 September 2011, before being elected to Palazzo dei Bruzi and to have to give up, therefore, the helm to his sister, who remained in the saddle until the declaration of bankruptcy and already sentenced by the Gup of Cosenza at a year and four months (with suspended penalty and not mention).
The sentence was subsequently confirmed by the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro.
The alleged crash at the center of the investigation, explored in the two degrees of judgment, would have been reconstructed by the Guardia di Finanza of Cosenza through the accounting documentation.
The tax detectives would have lined up the alleged illegal paths of the corporate assets that would have crossed the funnel of dispersion. A financial distiller who would have been used to select the assets of the “Ofin srl” initiated to bankruptcy in favor of two other companies attributable to the same former mayor of Cosenza, Mario Occhiuto.
The forzist senator, who is defended by the lawyer Nicola Carratelli, at the end of the first instance sentence, had said he was confident in the subsequent degrees of judgment. And above all, he had reiterated a concept: “My trust and respect for the judicial authority remain unchanged”.
