Three arrests were made after as many convictions became final following the recognition of criminal responsibility for an armed robbery against a fuel distributor located in Mesiano di Filandari, in the Vibonese area. Once the sentences became final, the prison order was issued against Carmelo Soriano, 34 years old, from Filandari, but resident in Soriano (VV), sentenced to 5 years in prison; Rinaldo Loielo, 34 years old, from Ariola di Gerocarne, sentenced to 4 years and 7 months; Achille D’Agostino, 35 years old, from Soriano Calabro, sentenced to 3 years and 6 months. Soriano and Loielo were taken to the Teramo prison, D’Agostino to the Lanciano prison.

The armed robbery was carried out on 20 February 2010. Carmelo Soriano is the son of the ‘Ndrangheta boss Gaetano Soriano, definitively sentenced to 11 years for mafia association. Rinaldo Loielo (who has already served 8 years in prison together with his brother-in-law as they were found in possession of a deadly explosive device) is the son of the late boss of the Preserre Vibono area, Giuseppe Loielo, killed by the rival Emanuele clan in 2002 in Gerocarne together with his brother Vincenzo Loielo. Achille D’Agostino is the nephew of Vincenzo D’Agostino, killed in 2008 and believed to be a member of Ariola’s ‘Ndrangheta. Achille D’Agostino’s father – Francesco D’Agostino – is a former municipal councilor in the Soriano administration dissolved due to mafia infiltration in 2022.
