The tourist tax, that is, the instrument that, throughout the world, places that live off tourism have been familiar with for decades. Well, in the capital, the tax only appeared in 2020. And for almost five years it remained a talisman, difficult to decipher even for professionals.
In this regard, in recent days, as clarified by the councilor for Productive Activities Stefano Soriano during the last municipal council, the approval of a new regulation arrived which brings with it precise prerogatives compared to the past. First of all, «we paid attention – explained Soriano – to the collection aspect, to the timeliness of payments. And we noticed that, given the data, there was a delay, both in the payments made and in the system for updating attendance in the city.” A “cumbersome” machine, so much so “that for 2024, the collection company is not able to provide us with the data on takings and attendance, while in Tropea – the executive representative again warned – all this was possible”. Having noted this, «in agreement with the budget councilor Pina Puntillo – Soriano remarked – we have activated the procedures for timely collection which would allow for more timely planning of activities connected to the tourist tax”.
