Mercitalia Rail, a company of the Logistics Hub of the FS Group, has started the connections for the rail transport of the new trains destined for the Milan Metro.
The trains are produced by Hitachi Rail in the Reggio Calabria plant and will be used by ATM for the M1 line in Milan.
Over the next few years, 46 trips are planned from the Calabrian capital to the Lombardy one to transfer as many trains. Each transported convoy is made up of 6 boxes and two shield wagons, has a length of approximately 106 meters and a weight of over 180 tonnes. Once the trains arrive at Milan Smistamento by rail, they are then transferred to the Precotto and Rogoredo depots with exceptional road transport.
The services are part of a tender awarded by Hitachi Rail to Mercitalia Rail in recent months which consolidates its leadership in the sector of exceptional and special rail transport.
