Officially inaugurated today in Diamante the trophy tour that brings In Calabria the two most prestigious trophies of world tennis: the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup. The city of the Tyrrhenian Cosentino hosted, from 9 to 9 pm, at the Town Hall, the two cups conquered in November 2024 by the male and female Italian national teams, giving a memorable day to the whole community and to the territory of the Upper Tyrrhenian Cosentino.
The event, promoted by Italian Tennis and Padel Federation and organized by the Municipality of Diamante, He transformed the city palace into a suggestive exhibition itinerary. Many visitors – sportsmen, citizens, school groups, families and enthusiasts – have admired the two trophies closely, kept in the original boys, accompanied by the official podiums and by multimedia content that tell the history of Italian tennis. A special occasion to celebrate the historic brace of blue tennis in an institutional and cultural frame of great impact.
In front of the town hall, the tennis and picklegball camps, set up for the occasion, animated the day with demonstrations and activities by the regional trustees, coordinated by the national technician responsible for the South Macroarea, Pierpaolo Vidiri. An initiative that actively involved the entire territory in a real sports festival.
At 12 noon, the official press conference for the opening of the Trophy Tour in Calabria took place in the council chamber “Ernesto Caselli”. The mayor of Diamante, Achille Order took the floor; the president of the city council, Mariano Casella; the national councilor Fitp, Joe Lappano; the vice -president of the Fitp Calabria Regional Committee, Gennaro Caselli; and the rector of the University of Calabria, Professor Nicola Leone.
