The Sports Center of the University of Calabria (CUS) was awarded for the next five years the management of the “Marco Lorenzon” stadium in Rende.
Therefore, continuity is given to the project undertaken last August of use of the plant for the activities aimed at the territory, including university and youth ones.
All the matches of the male and female university teams of the CUS were played in the plant, as well as all the activities aimed at the little ones and the smallest with the Cus Academy. Florentine were the workouts of the Spain national football team Under 19, which was then the winner of the qualifying group of the Elìte European European category.
The structures of the University, managed by the CUS, were in fact chosen by the FIGC, the host federation of the event, for the workouts of France and Latvia (in the plants of the university campus) and Spain (at the “Marco Lorenzon” stadium), precisely for the high quality standard of the grassy mantle of the playing fields.
Among the obligations of the CUS, in addition to an annual fee to be paid to the Municipality, also the provision of works to be able to obtain the accessibility of the system and the maintenance of the same.
So the president Giannantonio Cuomo: “Already with the provisional assignment of last summer we have contributed to returning to the community an asset of primary importance for the territory, to accompany local development through sport. With the University of Calabria we embarked on this umpteenth challenge, focusing on excellence and professionalism even in the sports field, a path in which we believe a lot, and which will have to be sustainable and attentive to our values ».
The university, through the CUS, therefore places itself as an authoritative interlocutor also in the context of regional sports facilities, given that in addition to the Lorenzon stadium he manages the campus facilities, soon affected also by the works of the sports citadel whose first lot is already being operated for the preparation of the area.
