US allows Ukraine to use some long-range missiles. The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing some sources, according to which Kiev on Tuesday used a Storm Shadow cruise missile supplied by Great Britain to hit a Russian plant in Bryansk that produced explosives and fuel. The decision is part of the pressure campaign that the Trump administration wants to exert on Moscow.
Meanwhile, “We will soon announce a substantial increase in sanctions on Russia,” said US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, underlining that an announcement could be made today or tomorrow, as reported by the Bloomberg agency.
“These will be among the largest sanctions we have ever imposed on Russia,” Bessent said in an interview with Fox News, specifying that they will not be “secondary tariffs.” The US Treasury secretary said he was encouraging wealthy G7 nations and other allies to “join us”. Vladimir Putin was not “honest and frank”, Bessent finally declared.
