A Greek Sold Out Theater, with almost 5 thousand spectators, decreed an ovation for Elettra by Sophocles, directed by da Roberto Andò, which opened the 60th season of classic representations last night at the Greek theater of Syracuse of the National Institute of the ancient drama. Applause for the protagonist Sonia Bergamasco, for Anna Bonaiuto in the role of Clitennestra, Roberto Latini who is Oreste, Danilo Nigrelli the pedagogue, for Paola De Crescenzo, Giada Lorusso and Bruna Rossi who are the Corifees, Silvia Ajelli Crisotemi, Roberto Trifirò Egisto, Rosario Tedesco Pilade and Simonetta Cartia Chief Coro.

Elettra is set in a collapsed palace that “has been placed on the ground and continues to hide inside the horror that has condemned Elettra to an immense and inconsolable suffering if not from revenge”, explains the scenographer Gianni Carluccio, while Daniela Cernigliaro’s costumes are “without a precise time”. To tell the story of Elettra there are no vintage clothes, the story of hatred and revenge does not have a past time, it is always current. His dress is the mirror of his torment, he is on him a “nothing of costume”.

The original music are by Giovanni Sollima. Made of co -production with the Teatro di Napoli, the show will be staged in Syracuse until June 6, and on tour in Pompeii on 11, 12 and 13 July.
Tonight according to the debut of the season with the first of the Oredipo in Colono di Sophocles, directed by Robert Carsen, in the translation of Francesco Morosi and Giuseppe Sartori in the role of Oedipus.
