Convictions confirmed by the Supreme Court against Salvatore Emmanuele, 31 years old, from Ariola di Gerocarne, and Vincenzo Primerano, 30 years old, from Soriano Calabro, in the Vibonese area. Resisting a public official and causing injury are the crimes for which the Supreme Court has declared the appeals inadmissible. The sentence was suspended only for Primerano. The inadmissibility of the appeals also resulted in the appellants having to pay court costs and the sum of three thousand euros to the Fines Fund.
Salvatore Emmanuele and Vincenzo Primerano were arrested by the Carabinieri in June 2021 as Salvatore Emmanuele, under special public security surveillance with an obligation to stay in Gerocarne, had been found in the Soriano area. On this occasion, Salvatore Emmanuele had attacked the carabinieri (a marshal and a brigadier), even tearing the anti-Covid mask from one of the two, supported by Vincenzo Primerano who would have entered the brawl by stopping one of the soldiers of the force and thus encouraging the attack with punches to the face by his friend towards the brigadier. The carabinieri – who were civil parties in the trial – had suffered injuries to their faces and arms and required medical treatment. Salvatore Emmanuele then addressed threatening sentences to the police: “If you arrest me again it will end badly, you won’t let me live, I’ll kill you all.”
