The Carabinieri of the Graniti Station and the Radiomobile Aliquot of the Taormina Company arrested a 23-year-old and a 32-year-old, already known to the police, who attempted to get rid of a wrapper containing cocaine when they were spotted by the patrols, engaged in a territorial control service, also aimed at combating drug trafficking.
The Carabinieri of the Carabinieri spotted the car with the two suspects stopped near the Giardini Naxos motorway junction. One of the two, who was outside the vehicle, at the sight of the soldiers attempted to get rid of something he was throwing over the edge of the road. However, the man’s action was noticed by the police who immediately intervened and recovered the package, ascertaining that it was a diaper with approximately 90 grams of cocaine hidden inside.
At this point, once the on-site checks were completed, the two individuals believed to be responsible for the crime of “detention for the purpose of dealing in narcotic substances” were arrested. Conducted to the barracks under arrest, once the formalities have been completed, the two are placed under house arrest at their respective homes, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
The drugs were seized and handed over to the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina for the relevant laboratory analyses.
