The curtain rises on the thirteenth Calabrian legislature. Today at Palazzo Campanella – starting at 3pm – the first meeting of the Regional Council is scheduled. A session destined to enter the history of Calabrian regionalism because for the first time the majority in the Chamber will have the same political color – the centre-right, in this specific case – as that of the previous council and will be led by the same governor.
The spotlight is on Roberto Occhiuto, also in light of the sudden conclusion of the previous experience and the decision to bring Calabria to the vote in the middle of the summer. Having achieved large electoral success and, therefore, a new popular legitimation, the leader of Forza Italia is now ready to launch the second part of the program of interventions launched in 2021.
Returning to today’s meeting, on the agenda is the replacement of the councilors appointed to the Council with the first of the non-elected ones in their respective constituencies of origin and the election of the entire Bureau of Palazzo Campanella. For the president’s seat there is no doubt: the center-right will focus on the figure of Salvatore Cirillo, a Reggio exponent of Forza Italia, politically close to the Italian coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro.
