It took place for the first time ever in the municipal area, especially, in Taverna di Montalto Uffugo, the “day of public archeology”. An initiative organized by Ugly ONLUS itinerary, in collaboration with the Calabria Region and the Municipality of Montalto Uffugo, in synergy with the Department of Culture and Entertainment, Guidto da Silvio Ranieri, as part of the Cultural Activities Cultural Activities entitled “We meet history”. Event from the imporatte goal of allowing citizens to discover and know the history of their territory, in this case of the city of Montalto Uffugo, through a program of teaching and popular stages.
A day that has been so successful and a lot of participation, as the commissioner Ranieri tells the councilor: «The program of enhancement of the cultural part of our city continues. Without forgetting how Montalto Uffugo has been inhabited since the 4th century. AC and in a territory rich in trade, the civilization of the time was well organized in large and fortified communities. Among the major testimonies we find the area of ancient Pantoni, where today there is an archaeological area of more than 2000 square meters and different areas dedicated to the deceased, the so -called Brettie necropolis. This was a moment that wants to rekindle the spotlight on the archaeological and historical world of our city and dedicated to the little ones curious ». And again, the Councilor for Culture added: “The” days of public archeology “want to be, a party in which history, culture and art meet to make the public known the cultural heritage and the history of our territories. And it was truly exciting to carry on this project as Councilor of the Municipal Administration. Finally, a storytelling on “Enotri, Bruzi and the Crati Valley” represented in the form of Living History by the association emerging visions and, therefore, the historical origins of our city with the finds on our territory.
