“The path aimed at approving the Municipal Structural Plan continues to be based on a method based on active listening and institutional collaboration with professional orders and associations, whose technical contribution has proven to be decisive in the definition of an urban planning tool capable of effectively orienting the future development of the territory”. This was declared by the deputy mayor of Catanzaro, Giusy Iemma, following the meeting held yesterday at Palazzo De Nobili with representatives of the Orders of Architects, Engineers, Geologists, Surveyors, Superintendency, Ance and other stakeholders, convened a few days after the publication of the definitive PSC document accompanied by the regional geomorphological opinion.
The meeting was attended by Laura Abramo, as Rup, the entire Planning Office with the coordinator of the technical area Giovanni Laganà, and the president of the Urban Planning council commission, Gregorio Buccolieri.

“Although it is not an obligatory procedural step – underlined Iemma – the administration considered it a priority to confirm a total and transparent openness towards the technical skills involved. The orders and associations have provided a qualified contribution, expressed both during the conference and along the project path, through observations and contributions already widely incorporated in the documents. These are interventions of a high technical profile which will be able to further refine the overall quality of the document, both formally and substantially”.

The Planning Office, having reached a decisive step in the process, intended to confirm a working method based on sharing, considered essential so that the definitive document – which will be submitted first to the Council and subsequently to the Municipal Council – can also be fully consistent with the evolving regulatory framework.
The administration has also implemented the indications formulated by the Urban Planning Department of the Calabria Region, with the aim of ensuring full alignment with the regional timing and requirements.

“The PSC places the principle of zero land consumption at the center – added the deputy mayor – and defines urban regeneration as a priority strategic axis: a cultural as well as technical challenge, as well as an important economic and professional opportunity for the territory. The priority is not that of building expansion on new land, but of the redevelopment of the existing heritage, with a view to balanced and sustainable development. The administration’s commitment is to overcome the traditional approach of urban planning tools, integrating the building dimension with improvement of the social and environmental context. With this vision, the path will continue towards the approval of a modern, flexible tool capable of interpreting the needs of the city of the future”.
