A quick analysis of the Regional elections, but above all a look at the future of the opposition in Calabria. This was the heart of the meeting “The ballot boxes and Calabria”, promoted by Asprom in the representation room of the Municipality of Cosenza. After greetings from the mayor Franz Caruso, the mayor of Villa San Giovanni Giusy Caminiti, on the front line against the construction of the bridge, the director of the “Quotidiano” Massimo Razzi and the economist Domenico Cersosimo spoke, moderated by the director of Asprom Mimmo Talarico. Closing the event was MEP Pasquale Tridico, already candidate for the presidency of the Region for the progressive camp.
“I won’t do an analysis of the vote – others have done it competently, based on numbers and data that I share – but I want to try to give answers, starting from an issue that is very close to my heart: the right to vote of students and off-site workers” – began Pasquale Tridico.
«We are working on a bill in Parliament to guarantee them the possibility of voting from the place where they live and study. I know it will be a difficult battle with this Government, but it is a battle of identity, of civilization. The right, instead of removing obstacles, often ends up accentuating them. We need to change perspective, restore rights, not take them away.”
Tridico, who will not resign as regional councilor before the expiry of 60 days from the proclamation, has clearly traced the lines of the opposition. «I will organize the opposition in the meantime – he announced -. Because we are compact and cohesive within ourselves.” An opposition that will have precise institutional positions: its list would have the role of secretary-quaestor, in addition to the possible presidency of the Control and Guarantee Commission.
