The historic beach of the small sea, a natural jewel at the foot of the rock of Santa Maria dell’Isola and iconic destination of Calabria, is in a state of serious abandonment. To launch the alarm It is Antonio Pisà, a former city councilor of Tropea, who wrote to the extraordinary commissioners of the Municipality and the highest regional and national authorities, asking urgent interventions to restore the accessibility of the Lido. “The entrance is devastated by rainwater and represents a danger for everyone, especially for people with disabilities”, denounces Pisà, remembering how the beach – immortalized by the painter Albino Lorenzo and celebrated by Rai – represents a garrison of beauty, welcome and sociality. The former councilor proposes a simple but incisive plan: leveling the access area, installation of a walkway already available and relocation of floating chairs for the disabled. “The sea is everyone’s right – he says – and guaranteeing access to people with disabilities is a matter of civilization”. The appeal is clear: «There are no millions, but political will. Returning dignity to the small sea beach is possible, and a duty ».
