Those who thought that the Ukrainian raids that took place on Sunday on the Russian air bases thousands of kilometers from the border had softened the position of Moscow, must be recredit.

In the new round of direct negotiations held In Istanbul, the Russian delegation presented a series of very hard requests for negotiated peaceand also for a simple fire. To stop, Russia claims that Kiev withdraws his troops from the four partially occupied regionsdelivering them to the forces of the Kremlin or, alternatively, the demobilization and the end of foreign military aid. Volodymyr Zelensky reacted by appealing to Donald Trump because he adopts penalties against Russia to “force” it to cease the fighting.

The Ukrainian president invited his American counterpart to adopt penalties against Russia to force her to cease the fire, accusing Moscow of wanting only a “short pause” in the clashes and not a complete truce.

«We really expect Trump to adopt strong measures. We expect it to support the sanctions to force Russia to end the war, or at least to move on to the first phase, that is, the fire, “said Zelensky in a press conference.

The same request made in the morning intervening in Vilnius to a top of the NATO countries of the east side. “If Istanbul will not lead to anything, new penalties from the EU and the USA will clearly be used,” said Zelensky a few hours before the second round of the direct negotiations after that of May 16. And clearly the long -awaited Memorandum certainly did not meet the hopes of the Ukrainian leader. According to the text of the document, distributed to the Russian agencies, Moscow proposes two options to Kiev to obtain a ceased fire. The first is precisely the withdrawal of the Ukrainian forces from the territory of the four regions claimed by the Russians, and partially occupied by them: Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzia and Kherson. The second option provides, among other things, the beginning of the demobilization of the forces of Kiev, the revocation of the martial law, the exclusion of the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine, the end of foreign military aid in Kiev and the sealing of elections within one hundred days after the revocation of the martial law. The conditions for a political solution of the conflict are also very hard. Among these: the international recognition of belonging to Russia of the four regions plus the Crimea, annexed in 2014; Proclamation of the neutrality of Ukraine (which would therefore renounce to enter NATO), the ban on military activities in the country of other states and the imposition of precise limits to the Ukrainian armed forces.
