A team of the Fire Brigade from the Catanzaro Command – Sellia Marina Detachment – is currently involved in the municipality of Botricello, along State Road 106 towards Crotone, due to a fire which affected a lorry used for the transport of various groupage.
There was only the driver on board the vehicle who, having noticed the fire, managed to promptly abandon the vehicle without suffering any damage.
The shutdown and safety operations are still underway. The intervention of the Fire Brigade is aimed at completely extinguishing the flames, safeguarding nearby structures and making the affected area safe.
The event is causing disruption to road traffic. The stretch of SS106 affected by the fire is currently closed to traffic to allow rescue operations. The mayor of Botricello, the carabinieri and local police were on site for their duties and also Anas personnel to restore the normal safety conditions of the road.
