The ASD Città di Pizzo responds to the statements made by the president of the ASD Pizzo, Pietro La Porta, on the management of the “Vincenzo Tucci” stadium. In a note signed by the president Sergio Giovanni Mangani, the association recalls the resolution of the municipal council number 142, announced on 10 September 2026, with which the public tariff of the plant was approved.
According to the Asd Città di Pizzo, the municipal provision would eliminate the economic requests previously made by the manager.
The clash over the Tucci stadium fees
La Porta had rejected the expression “blind agreement”, maintaining that the clarity of the tariffs was «sufficiently guaranteed by what the Tucci agreement provides, which expressly establishes that the use of the plant is subordinate to the programming and calendars envisaged by the concessionaire».
A reconstruction contested by the ASD Città di Pizzo: «Confusing calendar planning with the power to set tariffs does not stand up to the test of facts. The Tucci stadium is a community asset, not private property, and the tariffs are decided exclusively by the Municipality with a resolution, which has finally arrived, not by the manager in pen.”
The association maintains that postponing to private negotiations or PEC, while the public tariff had not yet been approved, would have entailed an economic commitment without defined conditions.
The request of 7,200 euros
The manager would have quantified the total sum required for four months of use at around 7,200 euros, equal to 150 euros for each training session, indicating annual management costs of around 20 thousand euros to be shared pro quota.
The ASD Città di Pizzo reports that it has always supported its share of the documented expenses until mid-April and recalls a traceable bank transfer of 2,500 euros made on 5 February.
“Demanding that a third party pay flat rates without showing an expense voucher endorsed by the Municipality raises a doubt: are we talking about reimbursements or a system to generate private profit on an unavailable community asset, bypassing the prohibition on profit provided for in Article 5 of the agreement?”, asks the association.
The dispute over the management of Sant’Antonio
Another point of the reply concerns an alleged arrears relating to the “Sant’Antonio” plant. The ASD Città di Pizzo indicates a backlog of 20,832 euros and claims to have received the documentation from the Municipality only on 31 July 2026, after an appeal to the TAR and two requests for access to documents which remained unanswered.
According to what is claimed in the note, there would also be a PEC sent by the Municipality in 2025 and a response from Asd Pizzo which arrived 14 months later. Mangani’s association believes that this response represents an admission of non-payment.
The closed gate and the transitional contract
The ASD Città di Pizzo also disputes the reconstruction provided by La Porta on the protest for the young athletes left outside the facility.
«On the afternoon of September 3 there was no manager of the dealership on site, but only a private padlock barring a public gate. This is testified by over 80 young underage athletes and their families, who remained on the streets until a telephone intervention from the mayor unblocked the situation”, reads the note.
On September 5, the association signed a transitional contract, expiring on September 11, despite not yet knowing the rates. Mangani specifies that the signature would have been made “with express reservation of the law” and to avoid interrupting the children’s sporting activity.
The association also rejects any reference to personal events unrelated to its activity, maintaining that the facts referred to by the opposing party would have occurred in the presence of witnesses and could be reconstructed by the competent authorities.
The hypothesis of revocation of the concession
The note also addresses the rumors according to which the municipal technical office is evaluating the revocation of the concession due to changed conditions of the land, in view of a new tender.
The ASD Città di Pizzo recalls articles 95 and 98 of Legislative Decree 36 of 2023, arguing that the alleged arrears of 20,832 euros constitute a serious professional offence. The association also believes that the affair may have caused continued damage to the treasury.
«The documentation requested from the Municipality was delivered to us only after nine months of waiting, but we have seen and examined the documents and we are ready to show them. The ASD Città di Pizzo has nothing to hide and makes itself available to the community and other associations”, states Mangani.
The reply on the alleged political ambitions
Finally, the association responds to those who have hypothesized external political interests or a strategy linked to the next local elections.
«Our battle began in November 2025, long before the matter became the subject of the current public debate and people started talking about the next elections. Since then we have acted exclusively through formal requests, access to documents, PEC and, when necessary, resorting to institutional and judicial channels.”
«We don’t want to put anyone’s intentions on trial and we’re not interested in turning this matter into a political dispute. We will continue to look at the documents, ask for transparency and protect the interests of the Asd Città di Pizzo and the Pizzitana community. Certainly, we will not tolerate institutional wiping out”, concludes the president Sergio Giovanni Mangani.
