There will be two civic teams that will compete for the administrative leadership of the municipality of Acquaro for the next five years in the next November elections, in an extraordinary round following the dissolution of the administration due to alleged mafia infiltration and a long commissioner leadership lasting 18 months. In fact, those who showed up at the town hall this morning were the representatives headed by Pino Ferraro, retired police inspector, who were the first to endorse the team, and by Giuseppe Barilaro, former mayor in his third term before the aforementioned dissolution and declared eligible again by the ordinary court of Vibo Valentia with a ruling dated 12 September. In Ferraro’s team, “Acquaro Bene Comune” there are representatives of various backgrounds, professions and ages (from 18 to 72 years), some new faces in politics and others with previous administrative experience: Robert Aloe; Maria Concetta Caporale; Mariarosa Femia; Giusi Maiolo; Giuseppe Maiolo; Massimo Malvaso; Umberto Muratore; Antonio Poci; Francesco Scarmozzino; Rosario Schiavello. Newbies are Aloe, just eighteen years old, Caporale, Femia, the two Maiolos, Muratore and Poci, as well as, obviously, the leaders. Strict confidentiality was maintained until the end about Barilaro’s team, “Uniamo Acquaro” also made up of ten members, with only one representative of the fairer sex, previous administrators and neophytes and ages ranging from 30 to 90 years: Filippo Alessandria; Giuseppe Bono; Bruno Ciancio; Antonio Corbo; Antonio Demasi; Naomi Latassa; Giovanni Montagnese; Gabriele Sangiuliano, Domenico Tascone and Saverio Viola. The debuting faces are Corbo, Demasi and Tascone, while Montagnese, who also has no administrative experience, has been a candidate several times. The response of the electoral commission is awaited for any inconsistencies. If absent, a tough, exciting and last-ditch challenge awaits.
