The filming of “U Monacu”, the documentary created within the project from 2 May Performing of the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro which is a choral story that crosses the life of the Franciscan friar Fedele Biscegliacontroversial figure and particularly known in the recent history of Cosenza.
Missionary in Africa, for a long time of reference for the last and well -known face of the Ultras Cosentino world, father Fedele, today 87 years old, has also faced a long judicial case ended with full acquittal. A singular and complex character, with a multi -isma biography that makes him a subject worthy of particular attention.
The project was born from an idea of Vladimir Costabileprofessor of Regia of the ABA of Catanzaro, who has taken on both the direction and the artistic direction. The production involves the students of the third year of the directing course to which the commitment in writing, research and audiovisual production aimed at the creation of a complex narrative product is entrusted, in balance between historical memory and contemporary languages. The production is part of the performing performing section, which promotes the integration between artistic languages and contemporary technologies, through workshops, original productions and moments of sharing open to the territory.
The narrative develops without rhetoric, with the intent to return the complexity of a personal and collective affair, which is intertwined with a significant page of the social history of the Bruzia city. This is the first audiovisual work on the figure of the monk-ultrà, and represents an important opportunity for public reflection through the critical and sensitive gaze of a new generation of narrators. The project was able to count on the availability and interest of Rai Calabria, an important signal that opens up to the possibility of future collaborations between the public radio and television service and the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro, in the perspective of enhancing new languages, young talents and stories rooted in the territory.
“The intent of the document is not only to tell a story, but to return the complexity, questions and silences of a rich life to the community – and to deal with controversial – like the one who lived Father Fedele Bisceglia. We want to offer, with a non -judgmental look, a complete vision of a story that many have spoken in but which perhaps has never been fully told. It is therefore not just a question of Fedele Father, but it is a question of telling the social context in which he operated and in which his figure was builtCostabile said.
The creative team to support Costabile is composed of Mauro Nigrodirector of photography, Tony Perrifirst operator, e Andrea Marottaeditorial coordinator and journalistic supervisor.
