On April 12, a meeting was held at the Fermi High School in Catanzaro Lido as part of the project “The right to have rights”, directed and promoted by the Board of Directors and the MIUR Observatory of the criminal Chamber “Alfredo Cantàfora” of Catanzaro.
The project, which implements the protocol entered into by the union of criminal chambers with the Ministry of Education, University and Research, aims to provide students with correct information on the constitutional values that regulate the criminal system, the function of the process, the role of its protagonists and the principles that challenge it. Furthermore, he promotes training meetings for secondary school students, with the aim of spreading a correct education for legality and principles of liberal criminal law and the right process, offering students a clear vision of defense roles, judge and accusation in the exercise of jurisdiction.
At the first meeting, coordinated by the professor of law, prof. Scarantino, aimed at the students of Class V, took part in the members of the MIUR Observatory, the lawyer. Sara Spanò, Dr. Mariada Megna and Dr. Tommaso Bova, together with the lawyer Nicola Tavano, treasurer of the criminal chamber, and the lawyer Antonella Canino Director of the Board, member of the National Observatory on the Judicial Error of the UCPI.
A further stop will take place on May 12, 2025, with a second meeting aimed at third classes. At the end of the route, the boys of the 5th class will have the opportunity to attend an investigation hearing at the Court of Catanzaro; The pupils of class III, on the other hand, will carry out a laboratory activity concerning the notions acquired during the meeting dedicated to raising awareness of the legal issues addressed.
