What is the implementation status of the Urban Agenda? The time to use the available resources is almost running out. Works and projects must be completed by the last months of 2023. Does it look like it’s set up? Is the Municipality able to complete the procedural processes and avoid the risk of penalizing delays? The last official meeting took place in the Region, between the mayors and technicians, in January last year. Specifically, Rende intended to proceed with the creation of the smart cities services and the public lighting energy efficiency project: «Thinking about the urban area does not mean missing opportunities, but rather multiplying them in terms of economic growth, development and sustainability. We need to start from mobility by connecting the territories through a smart transport network: let’s think about our industrial area, the university center, the historic centers”, the administrators had the opportunity to announce in those days. Almost 17 million euros: this is the economic figure available. For what? «The realization of the cycle path project that will connect Viale Mancini and Viale Principe thanks to the restoration of the old railway bridge», is certainly an important part, within the Urban Agenda, of the integrated project for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of network infrastructures and public services in the urban area. But not only. The timetable or, better said, the ideas and proposals of the former administrators concerned «the intervention that will contribute to the improvement of environmental performance, in terms of reduction of CO2 production and overall improvement of the ecosystem, also in synergy with the intervention on the sustainable mobility infrastructure aimed at the reactivation and re-functionalisation of the services connected with the current hectometric system – escalator and lift – which constitute the access point to the historic centre, as well as with the interventions on the main buildings of property”.
